Anonymous asked: tips for someone trying to get into yoga?
Well, I just went to Target and bought a mat for like…$10. I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it a full time thing or not. I tried watching Youtube videos and doing it on my own and thought I was getting a lot out of it. But then I started going to classes! They offer them at 24 hour fitness for free if you’re a member. Luckily, in San Francisco there’s this company called Yoga To The People that is donation based (They are amazing, there are locations in Berkeley, Chicago, Boston, and New York City).
Going to these classes changed my whole outlook on yoga and I got so much more out of it. If you’re not comfortable doing it in front of other people just suck it up for a month, realize what kind of routine is comfortable for you, then do it in the comfort of your own home. It’s like the difference between learning to play guitar by watching Youtube videos and playing by yourself, and actually going into a practice spot and playing with other people playing real instruments. It’s just so much better and such a good experience.
